Ambassador Spotlight - Peter Adams

Author: Ayrianna Drayton

The Tempe Chamber would like to spotlight the May Ambassador of the Month, Peter Adams.

TPeter Adams CC: What type of business services or products do you provide?

Peter: I'm primarily a consultant who provides custom software solutions to businesses that just aren't getting what they need out of readily available solutions. We also have a brand, GeekRebels, which provides out-of-the-box plugins for WordPress and Joomla.

TCC: What are some exciting things happening in your business?

Peter: This has been a really great year and I've been able to work on some really special projects. In Q4 this year, we'll be helping a client re-launch an existing product for home builders, using updated technology and improved processes. It's a great collaboration between me as an outside contractor, and their internal production and development teams.

TCC: What is your background and how did you come to be in this business?

Peter: I've always been something of a tinkerer and I've been writing code, in some capacity, since I was 10. I was really lucky when I first moved away to attend Kansas State University - through one of my hobbies, I met two people who were launching their own company. I started with them as their tech support during my freshman year and started working as a developer my sophomore year. I continued working for them well past my graduation, until I moved on to the wider corporate world where I worked on everything from retail supply chain to e-commerce and e-learning. Life came full circle when I moved to Arizona eight years ago and launched my own small business shortly after.

TCC: What are your special interests?

Peter: After 40 years, I've quit collecting hobbies and started focusing on just a few. I'm rediscovering the joy of a good book thanks to audiobooks and I ride my mountain bike at least three times a week. I'm also always looking forward to my next motorcycle road trip. This year, I have a new special interest that joined my family, my daughter Hannah. My wife and I hope to pass on our sense of adventure and exploration to her as she grows older.
