The Business Woman of the Year Award was established to recognize an outstanding business woman who has positively affected the Tempe community and the Tempe Chamber of Commerce.  The following finalists have achieved excellence in their fields, displayed leadership in the community, served as positive role models, and are active in programs within the community and Tempe Chamber. They have received numerous awards and accolades for their professionalism and spirit of service.

Personal Mission Statement: “To live life to the fullest by continually learning and overcoming challenges with integrity and persistence while making changes in my life that creates a healthy balance with work, family and personal time. Ensure personal growth by surrounding myself with positive influences, remaining optimistic and always seek for ways to improve.”

Lorraine has led her business to achieve 30- to 60-percent growth in three consecutive years, maintaining revenues and employees even in a down economy by implementing a diversification strategy. She is a founding member of Advancing Women in Construction, which works with ASU to develop scholarship programs and is a believer in the power of education. Lorraine is a graduate of both the Gilbert and Tempe Leadership programs. She helped found the East Valley Branch of Fresh Start, which assists women who have been impacted by a traumatic event or whose lives are in transition.

Personal Mission Statement: “Live each moment with passion, enthusiasm, and integrity so that I may inspire those around me and make a positive impact on my community and the world.  I will do this by infusing positive energy into every activity in which I participate and by continuously seeking ways to improve my character, knowing I cannot give to others what I do not possess myself.”

Angela manages a team around the country and drives all marketing strategies for Telesphere, which has tripled revenue and created 84 new Valley jobs. She has taken the lead on a comprehensive “Sales Toolkit” and new product development and scheduling. She also owns her own baton twirling business that coaches girls, helps them overcome fears and builds their self-esteem. She is the President of AZ Baton Twirling Council, an Omega Vector graduate and past Vice President of Public Relations for Dobson Ranch Toastmasters.

Personal Mission Statement: ” ‘One Big Life.’  Personal philosophy determines your future outcomes.  This means that I want it all: a great business, great clients, great family, great friends, great spiritual life, and, most importantly, I’m willing to do what it takes and be the kind of woman I have to be to live ‘One Big Life’.”

Elaine has started five businesses since 1971 and continues to start more. She led 2009 with the internal theme at Air Marketing called “Zero Fail Mission” focused on “A” players on the AIR Team, much like those that earn the right to work on Air Force One. She is part of the Women’s Financial Group Leadership Committee for National Bank of Arizona. She is Chairman of the Board of the Better Business Bureau and has done significant pro-bono work including serving on the Board of Directors for GMarie Group, a privately held woman-owned company.

 

The Business Woman of the Year Award will be presented at the Women In Business Conference & Trade Show on Thursday, May 21, 2009, at The Buttes – A Marriott Resort, 8:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
